TAC Meeting Minutes - Nov 03, 2006

Present: Lisa Bartle, Tony Coulson, Steve Cuddigan, Lorraine Frost, David Randolph, Jason Reimer, Mike Ross, Bill Takehara.

Welcome and Introductions
Joe welcomed everyone to the TAC meeting

IRT VP Report
Lorraine distributed handouts for strategic planning. She would like TAC to review these for the next TAC meeting.

Approval of TAC Handbook
  • Revisions were made to the TAC handbook. Monica will email revised handbook out to TAC listserv and approval will be done electronically.
  • Suggestions for the handbook were to put specific tasks in subcommittee charters; integrate working group charters into subcommittee charters; designate chair of subcommittee as chair of working groups

Resurrection of Clicker Discussion

  • Clicker discussion may be a little bit premature - there are only a handful of professors on campus that are using them and the publishers haven't standardized their textbooks to clickers. Most likely cost of clickers will be built into price of textbooks. Lorraine suggested that TAC will draft a statement regarding their position on clickers. Jason will draft the statement for review for the TAC meeting in January.

Committee and Subcommittee Reports

  • Tabled to the next TAC meeting on November 17.

Other Business

  • Discussion regarding establishing an annual survey regarding technology software on campus. This survey will be assigned to the Teaching and Learning subcommittee and will encompass all academic software on campus.
