Technology Advisory Council Meeting- May 30, 2003

Attendees: Joe Scarcella, Kurt Collins, Tony Coulson, Ron Pendleton (guest), Richard Botting, Steve Cuddigan, Thihn Ly (guest), Larry Guzzetta ( guest), Michael Ross, Carolyn Aldana

The meeting was held so The College of Education could bring in a vendor to demonstrate portable, wireless devices like PDAs and tablets. After the demonstration there was much discussion on how wireless devices such as the ones demonstrated could affect and be utilized on campus.

The minutes for May 16th were read; however, because there were several changes approval was delayed until the changes were made.

The budget was discussed and it was brought up that the Data Center needs to received a report on exactly how many and what computers are being taken off the inventory for this year. Kurt Collins has requested that those reports should be sent to him via email.

Kurt has also requested a digital copy of each proposal. Michelle Behne has agreed to collect or enter those for him.

Kurt repeated his request to have the computer user matrix filled out by each college and department so a snapshot of the campus' computer power need can be assessed. It was suggested to open up the Citrix experiment to the Campus' administrative side. Dr. Aguilar wants Citrix to be available for the residence halls by placing older machines in the community areas. Enrollment Services has agreed to participate in the Citrix testing. Steve Cuddigan is going to work with Tony Coulson, who is heading up the NAS storage initiative, and Mike Freire, who is handling the Citrix aspect, to make this happen.

The next and last meeting for the year will be June 6, 2003.
